The Australian Agency for International development referred to as AusAID provides advice on policy to the government as well as plans and implements Australia’s overseas aid program.
The AusAID program involves the entire Government of Australia, however there is one Government official who represents the foreign affairs department; the Australian minister for foreign affairs (federal), Senator Bob Carr, deals with foreign affairs such as applying aid to foreign countries in need, as well as helping decide on how we can help aid those in need. The department of foreign affairs ensures that Australia’s international affairs and region and bilateral interests are managed effectively. The department offers advice to the federal government on foreign and trade polices, to strengthen Australia's security, prosperity and overseas travel as well as aid.
